Dr Omar Ahmed
Freelance Film Scholar & International Curator of South Asian Cinema
Dr Omar Ahmed is a UK based film scholar with a PhD in Screen Studies from the University of Manchester (2019). He is also a teacher, writer and international curator of South Asian Cinema. He co-curates ‘Not Just Bollywood’ for HOME, Manchester.
Omar established the A Level Film Studies course at Aquinas College in Stockport, Manchester and was later appointed Head of Film. He taught Film and Media at Aquinas College for thirteen years before going on to pursue a PhD at the University of Manchester, which was funded by the AHRC in 2015.
He lives in Manchester with his wife and two children. He is also currently writing a book on Indian Parallel Cinema.
